Call for Curators: Indigenous Instruments Exhibition

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF), a non-profit arts organisation operating in the field of African music, seeks to contract an experienced curator for an indigenous instrument exhibition as part of the Foundation’s Instrument Building and Repair (IBR) project. The IBR project encourages the formalisation and professionalisation of instrument-making and repair in Africa, especially in relation to indigenous African instruments.

An exciting exhibition will be installed at the University of Johannesburg for a month in February 2025, showcasing a wide range of traditional musical instruments from all over the African continent. The successful candidate will coordinate the installation of the exhibition, including selection of the instruments, logistics, partner engagement and aesthetics.
