- UJ Arts Academy Dance Facilitator
We are looking for a Dance Facilitator to teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced dance students enrolled in the UJ Arts Academy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive learning environment and guiding students through their dance journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct auditions to identify and select dancers for the Academy.
- Lead weekly dance classes at the UJ Arts & Culture dance studio (Bunting Campus).
- Maintain attendance registers and ensure all students are up to date with lessons.
- Choreograph dance pieces for ad-hoc performances for UJ departments.
- Oversee and choreograph the Arts Academy showcase, involving all students in the programme.
- Attend technical and other rehearsals for the student showcase.
- Submit an end-of-year report with recommendations for the following year.
- The successful candidate will also attend production, planning, and coordination meetings with the UJ Arts & Culture team and liaise with the Arts Academy Coordinator for student communications and registers.
- Photographer & Videographer
UJ Arts & Culture is seeking a Photographer & Videographer to support the marketing department by capturing the essence of our events, theatre productions, and visual art exhibitions. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and be skilled in both photography and videography, with a focus on producing visual content for social media and marketing purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Photograph and film UJ Arts & Culture events, theatre productions, and visual art exhibitions.
- Create engaging and dynamic visual content for social media, including short videos, promotional materials, and behind-the-scenes footage.
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure visuals align with UJ Arts & Culture’s brand identity and messaging.
- Handle post-production, including editing, colour correction, and preparation of final visual materials for publication.
- Manage and maintain photography and videography equipment to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Candidates must have a strong portfolio showcasing live event photography, videography, and content creation for digital platforms.
- Graphic Design Mentor & Visual Art Exhibition Designer
We are seeking a Graphic Design Mentor & Visual Art Exhibition Designer to guide our design interns and manage all design aspects of visual art exhibitions. This role is critical in creating visually compelling materials that reflect the artistic vision of our exhibitions while nurturing young design talent.
Key Responsibilities:
Graphic Design Mentorship:
- Provide mentorship to design interns, offering guidance on design principles, project management, and creative development.
- Support interns with design tasks, offering feedback and helping them enhance their portfolios.
- Conduct regular one-on-one sessions and workshops to help interns develop a professional approach to design.
- Ensure interns meet deadlines and produce high-quality work aligned with UJ Arts & Culture’s brand identity.
Visual Art Exhibition Design:
- Design promotional materials for visual art exhibitions, including posters, banners, invitations, and digital assets.
- Collaborate with curators and artists to conceptualize and execute cohesive design concepts for exhibitions.
- Create exhibition catalogues, brochures, and educational publications, ensuring that design aligns with the exhibition theme.
- Oversee the visual layout and design of gallery spaces, ensuring that graphics and visual elements enhance the audience’s experience.
- Handle all aspects of print production, including preparing files and working with printers to produce high-quality materials.
Educational Publications:
- Design and format educational materials and publications related to exhibitions, ensuring they are visually engaging and accessible for a wide audience.
- Candidates should have strong experience in graphic design, a portfolio that includes work on exhibitions or educational publications, and prior experience in mentoring or teaching design students.
4.Production Design Coordinator
This position requires a Production Designer to coordinate set designs for our events, sourcing and buying of props for various projects within the department and management of our wardrobe.
We are looking for a seasoned designer with at least 8 years experience to work within our technical team supported by our interns and technical team. This person would have a unique skill in both set and costume design. The coordinator will be working on a part time basis and only be coming in when needed to either prepare and set up for events, purchase props and manage the wardrobe.
Their duties will include:
- Designing sets and layouts for the theatre foyer, piazza for UJAC events including partnerships and ad-hoc UJ events. This includes submitting plans, drawings, references and any other relevant plans.
- Sourcing and buying of props and other event needs including décor for UJAC events including partnerships and ad-hoc UJ events.
- Management of the UJAC wardrobe with the support of the technical team, production and technical interns.
- Keeping track of budget spending and reconciling after every project.
The successful candidate will be required to attend production, planning and other meetings with the rest of the UJAC team in order to ensure that they can execute their duties. They will directly communicate with the Operations line to fulfill their duties.
