Round Two :: UJ Arts & Culture Announces CATHSSETA Internship Opportunities for 2025-2026

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) Arts & Culture division is excited to announce the opening of applications for its 2025-2026 internship programme funded by the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA). 

This programme offers 17 internship positions across various departments within the University of Johannesburg and host organisations. The programme provides recent graduates with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop vital skills in arts and culture –related fields.  

Internship areas include: 

Internship Details: 

Copywriting Internship 

Interns will receive mentorship in writing copy for social media campaigns, advertisements, and media statements, as well as magazine and online articles. The internship aims to develop computer literacy, writing proficiency, creative thinking, innovation, planning, and organisational abilities, as well as a strong sense of professional work ethic.  

Minimum requirements: A postgraduate degree or relevant qualification in journalism or copywriting from a public university. 

Multimedia Internship 

Interns will be trained in animating content and images for social media advertising and archiving, recording and editing interviews, and compiling show reels for advertisement. The internship focuses on building computer literacy, editing and filming skills, animation, creative thinking, innovation, planning, and organisational skills. 

Minimum requirements: A postgraduate degree or relevant qualification in multimedia from a public university. 

Administration Internship 

Interns will receive mentorship in administrative functions and systems related to programme and project planning and implementation. The goal is to strengthen computer literacy, planning and coordination skills, communication, creative thinking, innovation, and a strong work ethic.  

Minimum requirements: A postgraduate degree or relevant qualification in performing arts or administration from a public university. 

Hospitality Internship 

The intern will be mentored in tourism and hospitality, including managing travel agencies, tour operations, and destination marketing, ensuring that travellers have enriching experiences while promoting various attractions, such as historical sites, natural wonders, and cultural events. Hospitality management, on the other hand, deals with the operational aspects of providing services in establishments such as hotels, restaurants, resorts, and event venues. It emphasises guest satisfaction, quality service, and overall customer experience. The internship aims to develop event planning and coordination, computer literacy, communication, creative thinking, innovation, and positive work ethics.   

Minimum requirements: Diploma or degree or above relevant qualification in hospitality and tourism management.

Start date: 1 December 2025 

Duration: 12 months 

Monthly stipend: R5,000.00 (subject to statutory deductions)
