A Grand Night for Singing

Join us for a spectacular evening of opera and song, as UJ Arts & Culture presents ‘A Grand Night for Singing’. This much anticipated annual event takes place on Saturday 7 September at 19:30. All proceeds are in aid of the Dean’s bursary fund. The Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, baritone Federico Freschi, is joined on stage by internationally acclaimed pianist Christopher Duigan, soprano Lynelle Kenned, mezzo-soprano Violina Anguelov-Hobbs and the renowned UJ Choir.

Now in its fourth 4th season, A Grand Night for Singing is an gala event to raise funds for the Dean’s Bursary Fund established by Professor Federico Freschi, the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture (FADA). The Fund provides financial assistance to academically deserving, but financially needy students in FADA.

It was a lovely evening with the most inspiring musicians and beautiful singing that lifted my spirits. I think in stead of saying it was for free; it would be best if it was mentioned that it’s a fundraising event and a donation is required and funds go to for students that need assistance. Somehow I missed this. Hope you will have something a similar fundraising next year !
