A Grave Confession :: Film Screening and Q & A

UJ Arts & Culture in partnership with Love-Infinity Media proudly presents a public screening of A Grace Confession Written & Directed by David Mzomba, a young South African filmmaker hailing from the rural village of Nqabara, in the Eastern Cape. As a tenacious kid his grit earned him a scholarship to attend the University of Witwatersrand where he studied film literature. He fell in love with the works of Nolan and Tarantino and realized that he too needed to find a way to make his own films one day.

After graduation David took a job as a transcriber and assistant, and with some elbow grease and charisma he worked his way up to shooting and editing. He worked on shows such as The Scoop South Africa, Slope Slap on Netflix, the MMA documentary series Ring Of Champions, and others. His employers took a chance on David’s talents, and decided to help him by financing his debut short film, which he wrote and directed, called A Grave Confession (2021), on the project he worked with well-seasoned South African actors Khanyi Mbau, Jovan Muthray and Olis Mavuso. His film has since won Best Short Film at the Amajuba Film Festival, he’s also won Best First Time Filmmaker at the Umgungundlovu Film Festival.

Screening Time: 18:00 followed by Q&A.
