A Dance season of works by internationally acclaimed choreographers Fana Tshabalala and Thulani Chauke. The season includes works that have toured around the world; “Between Us”, “Dark Cell” and new works premieres.
Broken borders arts project was established in 2017 by Fana Tshabalala and Thulani Alfred Chauke, all founders have been working as choreographer, performers and administrators in the field of arts for the past 15years, working for dance organisations such as Moving into dance, Vuyane dance theatre, Unmute Dance Company and the forgotten angle theatre collaborative, they all played different roles in those organisations from being associate artistic directors to fundraisers.
Since its inception Broken Borders arts project has been committed to creating Global Dance and theatre works that interrogates critical personal and social issues. It has consistently collaborated with local and international performers, choreographers and theatre practitioners to showcase theatre and residencies at both a national and international level. BBAP and partners have been recognized for their outstanding performances through the many awards and nominations they have received, such as standard bank young artist award, visa for creation, Chicago black excellence award, mail and guardian 200 young achievers award.
