Auditions for the UJ Arts Academy and UJ productions take place at the same time. Students may be selected for either a production, or acting classes – not both. Classes and rehearsals are presented weekly.
Drumming classes are offered weekly. The classes focus particularly on the African drum/Jembe (not the commercial drum-kit). These are facilitated by a drumming expert with many years of experience. The classes are structured in such a way that allows one to express their creativity, share their works in the group and improve their performance and playing. Drummers will perform in a showcase at the end of the year where they will give us a taste of what they’ve learned through-out the year.
For your audition: Prepare your best drumming piece and impress us with your talent. The audition runs like a workshop where your work and those of others will be shared in a group session with the facilitator giving guidance and tips to drummers.
