Let the Right One In

Let the Right One In is an enchanting, brutal vampire myth and coming-of-age love story adapted from the best-selling Swedish novel and award-winning film by John Ajvide Lindqvist, which was adapted for stage by Jack Thorne. The play will be produced and performed from for the first time in South Africa.

He befriends Eli, the young girl who has just moved in next door, she doesn’t go to school and never leaves the flat by day. A series of mysterious killings plagues their neighbourhood, while these two young misfits, sensing in each other a kindred spirit, forge a deep connection. But the shocking truth that Eli is a centuries-old vampire eternally stuck in the body of a child tests their young friendship—and love—beyond all imaginable limits.

This is the show’s premiere in South Africa. The play is UJ Arts & Culture and FADA’s 2019/2020 inter-disciplinary project, which is the faculty’s flagship programme that has been presented for the past three years and presented world-class productions that received critical acclaim.
