The Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria and the Embassy of Italy in South Africa are pleased to announce the tour of the pianist Bruno Canino and the flutist Luisa Sello, who will perform for the first time in Namibia (Windhoek) on 16 April and in South Africa (Johannesburg) on 18 April.
Among the most internationally acclaimed musical duos, Bruno Canino and Luisa Sello have achieved an intense artistic fellowship that accompanies them in communicating strong emotions to an audience that cheers them alongside the critics by whom they are already appreciated.
Bruno Canino is one of the greatest chamber musicians and pianists of our time; he studied at the conservatory in Naples, later distinguishing himself in the international competitions in Bolzano and Darmstadt. Among his most important recordings are Bach’s Goldberg Variations, the complete piano works of Casella, works by Prokofiev, Ravel and Stravinsky with violinist Viktoria Mullova, a recording for which he received the Edison Prize. He has taught piano at the Milan Conservatory and the Hochschule in Bern and was artistic director and in 1999-2002 at the Venice Biennale.
Luisa Sello is an artist of international calibration and was chosen by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage as a flutist to represent Italy abroad. She has collaborated with Riccardo Muti, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Trevor Pinnock, and Alirio Diaz. She is professor of the chair of flute at the Conservatory of Milan and Trieste.
Their two concerts will be following the schedule below:
