UJ Choir: Celebration Concert

The University of Johannesburg Choir presents its first Celebration Concert since 2019.

On 21 October, UJ Choir will share highlights of this year’s repertoire with family, friends, and supporters at St. Michael and All Angels’ Anglican Church in Weltevreden Park at 19:00.

Under the directorship of Choirmaster, Renette Bouwer, UJ Choir performs their most diverse and experimental repertoire yet – with works of Don Macdonald, Will Todd, Pentatonix, Vienna Teng and more. This robust programme includes music composed by Mbuso Ndlovu, who is currently an Artist in Residence at the University of Johannesburg.

“It has been a busy year for the choir, especially after the hiatus the pandemic brought about. UJ Choir performed with the renowned Missouri State University Chorale, conducted by Cameron LaBarr, University of Pretoria Camerata, the North-West University-PUK Choir, and for our legacy concert, we joined up with the Quava Vocal Group and Veni Cantare,” says Bouwer. “After nearly two years of inactivity, we have so much appreciation to enumerate – and making music together is at the top of it all,” she adds.

University of Johannesburg Choir continues to raise the UJ flag high, and audiences all over the world can continue connecting with these ardent singers through their albums that are available on all digital streaming platforms.
