UJ Choir Presents Sounds Of Democracy

The University of Johannesburg’s Arts & Culture, a division of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) is excited to present ‘Sounds of Democracy’ on 3 May 2024, at the Keorapetse William Kgositsile Theatre, at the UJ Arts Centre.  This performance will be conducted by Sizwe Mondlane under the direction of Renette Bouwer.

Audience members are in for a treat as UJ Choir brings the ‘Sounds of Democracy’ alive with a versatile programme that celebrates Freedom Day for 30 years of democracy in South Africa. The concert represents the vibrancy and dynamism of our society through rich African and western repertoire the choir has become known for.

Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant and colourful tapestry of our democracy as UJ Choir blends together a versatile programme, entwined with elements of the award-winning ‘Echoes of Heritage’ with compositions by UJ Artist in Residence Mbuso Ndlovu, spoken word praise poetry, and classical repertoire.

‘Sounds of Democracy’ marks UJ Choir’s first public performance of its 2024 programme, that also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable celebration of Freedom Day!
