As the University of Johannesburg (UJ) marks two decades of growth and excellence in higher education, the UJ20 Choir Kaleidoscope will showcase the musical talents that represent the institution’s vibrant community. Taking place on 2 August at 15:00 at the UJ Arts Centre, this special event forms part of UJ’s 20-year celebration calendar and reflects the University’s commitment to fostering artistic excellence and cultural diversity.
The matinee performance brings together young singers from across Gauteng, celebrating choral music and providing a platform for emerging talent. Participating schools include:

- Funda UJabule
- Greenside High School
Audiences can expect a diverse program featuring classical, contemporary, African traditional, and international choral works. The performance highlights UJ’s dedication to arts education and youth development through cultural engagement.
The festival concludes with a performance by the acclaimed UJ Choir, whose reputation for excellence has earned them international recognition. Having toured Europe, collaborated with renowned composers, and won prestigious awards, the UJ Choir represents the high standards and achievements that characterise the University. Their participation serves as both a celebration of UJ’s musical heritage and an inspiration for the school choirs sharing the stage.

The University of Johannesburg Choir stands as a beacon of musical excellence. It consists of eighty students from the university that study a range of qualifications, excluding music. Excelling in both Western and African choral repertoire, the choir prides itself in artistic innovation and musical integrity. UJ Choir has won numerous awards and continues to fly the University of Johannesburg flag with pride.
